Politicians prayed for Slovakia

1st of December 2016 – The members of the Slovak parliament from various political parties met together with the slovak MEPs and the ECPM representatives (European Christian political movement) at the occasion of Prayer breakfast. The goal, besides prayer, was to build relationships and contacts across the political spectrum.

The prayer breakfast was hosted by MEP’s Anna Záborská, Branislav Škripek and the member of the Slovak parliament Richard Vašečka. The introductory speeches were followed by a personal reflection of Ad de Bruin, a Dutch missionary and YWAM worker. He shared about the contemporary young generation, so called generation Y, that is, in his words, „always online“ and with an unlimited access to information and yet so lonely at the same time. These young people have a huge and yet hidden potential to change our country. The speaker challenged the older generation to do everything they can to help this coming generation succeed and create room for them.

Branislav Škripek, the initiator of the prayer breakfast in Slovakia said: „Prayer breakfast are a world-wide tradition. It’s an event attended not only by politicians but also by priests, pastors and NGO representatives to pray together for their political situation, country and the leaders. This event abroad is also attended by the representatives of other religions, as they want to hear about the person and teaching of Jesus Christ.“
The motto of the event was: „In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.“ (Matthew 5:16)
